Fair trade mango's vanuit Burkina Faso

Organic and sustainable mangoes are twice as tasty

At Pineut we are busy developing the most delicious products every day. But we find it just as important to give people who are less fortunate a better life with our nuts. Like the growers and processors in Burkina Faso who are responsible for the dried fair trade and sustainable mango in our Iced Tea and Mango Colada.

Sustainable mangoes from the Land of honest people

It's all in the name. The name Burkina Faso can be translated quite literally as 'Land of honest people'. With a 183rd place on the Human Development Index, Burkina Faso is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. Especially when you know that this index counts 'only' 188 countries. The population of this African country is 80% dependent on agriculture. One of the most important export products of Burkina Faso is the mango.

When we were looking for an organic dried mango for our Iced Teak, we wanted a product for which a fair price was paid. A product that was grown and processed in a fair way. Eventually we ended up with two suppliers who are completely at home in the organic world. They 'connected' us to a plantation in Bobo Dioulasso that meets all our fair requirements.

From mango plantation to Pineut Iced tea

From March to July, it is rush hour at the processing plant where the tropical fruits for our Pineut, among others, arrive. The incoming mangoes are peeled and cut by hand before being dried in large ovens. After this process, the mangoes are trimmed, checked and packed in a protective atmosphere. Ready for transport and ready to make a fresh, fruity, fair trade party of our liqueur.
