Not an outsider

At Pineut we do not have outsiders, but recognize all vegetables and fruits as pure flavor enhancers . We like to see our production as promising. We see opportunities for people, collaborations and product applications. We implement this down to the last detail.

We also see an opportunity to make a modest contribution to the fight against food waste. After all, our mixes contain dried products. And; drying is a perfect preservation method for vegetables and fruit. By drying, we extend the shelf life of the products and save them from waste.

In the past two years, we have been actively looking for impact partners in this area. Impact partners of Pineut contribute to a better world. For example, we went looking for partners who could help us save food and we came across Bart and Thijs of A Better Bite.

Impact partner in the spotlight: A Better Bite

Bart and Thijs. After years of working in the fruit and vegetable trade, they could no longer stand by. The fact that cosmetic flaws meant a one-way ticket to the compost bin was no longer acceptable to the two gentlemen. And so they started A Better Bite. With one sole purpose: to combat waste and to demonstrate that oddities are exceptionally tasty.

The concept we were all in love with: don't throw away, dry. And market it as (h)onest products. Tasty for the consumer and tasty for the planet. After months of experimenting, tasting, fine-tuning and even more experimenting ("would it also work with paprika?") A Better Bite was a fact. And that it really is better, that has now been proven. Many thousands of kilos of previously doomed fresh products have found their way to a very happy consumer in dried form. As a snack, as a flavouring, as candy.

At Pineut we were completely in love with the gentlemen and the products of A Better Bite from day one. And so we are very proud that we use the dried oranges of this honest company in our citrus Watertwist, sangria and mulled wine!
