No-waste Starters from Pineut

Drum roll… Because today is Upcycling Day, we couldn’t let the moment pass without a little sneak preview of Pineut’s brand-new product line: No-Waste Starters. With these, you can turn leftovers from your own fridge into the most delicious soups, smoothies and stews.

Fighting food waste

In the Netherlands, more than 35 kilos of fruit and vegetables per person end up in the bin each year. Leftovers, bruised pieces, or fruit and veg that have lingered just a little too long in the bowl or drawer. What a waste! Pineut’s No-Waste Starters help tackle this problem. In no time at all, they transform a wrinkled tomato or limp broccoli into a tasty soup, or make that forgotten banana shine in a smoothie.

A bag of natural ingredients – the perfect gift

Although the starters are packed in envelopes, that’s where any comparison with “cooking from packets and sachets” ends. Inside you’ll only find mixes of herbs and dried vegetables or fruit. For example, the soup starter contains dried onion, carrot, garlic and lovage, while the smoothie starter includes nothing but oats, coconut, ginger and sumac.

And here’s a lovely touch: the back of the envelope is writable, making No-Waste Starters the perfect sustainable letterbox gift.

Ready for winter with StamppotStarters

As winter approaches, Pineut is also introducing a Stamppot Starter. Rescue shrivelled potatoes from the bin with this mix of dried apple, onion and cinnamon, and whip up a traditional Dutch “Hete Bliksem” in no time.

How brilliant is this! The Holy Kauw Company – you might know them from their inspiring cookbooks Lemonade, Christmas, and Sunday – have already created an original recipe with the Stamppot Starter.

They did so on behalf of the collective Waste is Delicious: a group of 24 food entrepreneurs united by one mission – fighting food waste! The result? A fantastic new cookbook that you can download for free via this link .
