How do you make it?

Start by adding a clear spirit, such as vodka or dry gin. Ensure it contains at least 30% alcohol. Do not use bourbon or whisky, as this will have little effect. Write the bottling date and the type of spirit on the label. If possible, use any leftover spirits you already have at home.
Once filled, store your bottle in a cool, dark place. The wood chips will gradually release their sweet bourbon flavour and warm colour. Taste it from time to time to follow how the flavour develops. The process usually takes around eight weeks, but you can experiment by letting it mature for longer.
After eight weeks, your bourbon-style drink is ready to enjoy. Filter it, or pour carefully, to ensure no wood chips end up in your glass. And remember – never consume the wood chips.
